Jason Stoddard, Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) director of school safety and security, is pictured with a box of COVID-19 rapid tests that will be available at CCPS schools and buildings to test symptomatic staff and students.
CCPS received 4,800 rapid tests from the state and is awaiting 4,000 more that the school system purchased. CCPS will also receive 2,400 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests. PCR test results are determined by a laboratory.
If they choose, parents of children who display at least two symptoms of COVID-19 while the child is at school will be able to have the child tested by their school nurse. The testing will be done outside of the school building once the parent arrives to pick up the ill child.
