Tri-County Youth Services Bureau, along with a Steering Committee for a Community/Youth Center and the St. Mary’s County Community Development Corporation, has begun launching a summer project called Community Youth Mapping (CYM), www.communityyouthmapping.com. For six weeks, the project will engage 20-25 young people ages 15-20 (the “Youth Mappers”) in field research designed to collect information relating to people and places that are resources for youth, young adults and their families in the Lexington Park/Great Mills/Park Hall/California area. Youth Mappers will meet each morning at the Lexington Park library, dressed in their uniforms of provided T-shirts and caps. Field supervisors will oversee three cohorts of Mappers each day, while two Mappers stay at the library to enter data collected the previous day into the project database. At the end of the field research, the Youth Mappers will publicly present their findings and conclusions.
We are now recruiting three Field Supervisors and one Project Coordinator for seven weeks this summer: from July 10 to August 18. We are looking for adults who enjoy working with young people to support their growth and development, and to help them gain skills and confidence. These positions also involve some interest in field research, and the ability to coordinate and supervise. Download the Job Descriptions for more information.
